Supervisor Logsdon Applauds New Partnership Between Milwaukee County Parks and Hales Corners Lions Club
MILWAUKEE – Milwaukee County Supervisor Patti Logsdon is commending a new partnership between Milwaukee County Parks and the Hales Corners Lions Club aimed at enhancing Hales Corners Park. Under a one-year Use Agreement (effective Sept. 22, 2025, through Sept. 21, 2026), the Lions Club will gain preferential, non-exclusive use of the Hales Corners Park Pavilion for its meetings, programs, and events. In return, the Lions will help maintain and activate the facility for the community, handling tasks like scheduling rentals, marketing events, cleaning, and minor repairs. This “monumental” collaboration demonstrates how local volunteer groups and the County can work hand-in-hand to improve public spaces.
Key elements of the agreement include:
- Pavilion Use & Term: The Lions Club (led by President Bob Wolski) can reserve the pavilion in advance for club functions and community programs, while the County retains public access. The agreement runs from September 22, 2025, to September 21, 2026, with the possibility of renewal if mutually beneficial.
- Utilities & Maintenance: The Lions Club pays a flat $1,500 annual fee for utilities in the first year and will provide routine janitorial care for the pavilion and its immediate grounds.
- Storage & Improvements: The group may store equipment and materials on-site and may even build a secured storage area (with County approval and a Right of Entry permit). Any proposed building or site improvements must be approved in writing by the Parks Department in advance. The Lions Club may, at its expense, install internet service in the pavilion.
- Rentals & Scheduling: As part of the agreement, the Lions Club will coordinate all private rentals of the pavilion. Outside of the Club’s own programs, any additional events at the pavilion will be scheduled through the Lions, who will submit a master list of events to Milwaukee County Parks.
This partnership builds on years of community-driven work in Hales Corners Park. Last year, Supervisor Logsdon commended the Lions Club for donating an all-weather bench at the park, calling it “a lasting symbol of community spirit and support”. Now the County and Lions Club are broadening that collaboration to fully mobilize the pavilion and its potential.
