Supervisor Coggs-Jones Thanks Volunteers, Renews Earth Day Call to Action: Beautify the Block
MILWAUKEE – Milwaukee County Board Second Vice Chairwoman and 13th District Supervisor Priscilla E. Coggs-Jones issued the following statement, thanking the dozens of volunteers who gathered in Milwaukee’s 13th District to celebrate Earth Day by participating in the “Beautify the Block” campaign. The event focused on cleaning and revitalizing the streets between Locust, Hadley, and Chambers, from 18th through 21st Streets.
“This effort is a reflection of the power of collective pride and community care,” said Supervisor Coggs-Jones. “I’m grateful to the countless volunteers, neighbors, and local leaders who came together to make a visible difference in our neighborhoods. A special shoutout goes to everyone who signed the Beautify the Block Pledge—your commitment is helping create a cleaner, healthier District 13. I also want to thank Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Rev. Cleavon Williams, and Ms. Carol Humphries for their unwavering support in advancing our community-centered work.”
The initiative encourages local businesses and residents to maintain and beautify their surroundings beyond Earth Day. Through the Community Beautification Pledge, participants commit to spending at least one hour each week maintaining public-facing areas. Those who make a strong and consistent effort will be recognized at a future Milwaukee County Board meeting.
