Supervisor Burgelis Will Host Neighborhood Discussion on the Future of Doyne Park

MILWAUKEE – On Tuesday, June 21 County Supervisor Peter Burgelis and County Parks Director of Operations and Skilled Trades Peter Bratt will host a neighborhood discussion about the future of Doyne Park

“Doyne Park is a neighborhood jewel which the Parks Department can unfortunately no longer staff or maintain as a 9-hole par-3 golf course,” said Supervisor Burgelis. “Milwaukee County Parks wants to engage neighbors to discuss what is possible for the park’s future. I hope neighbors will join Tuesday’s meeting or check out the website to share their thoughts.”

After operating as a golf course for 40 years, Doyne Park will join Madison and Dineen parks on the list of Milwaukee County golf courses that have been converted for alternative use. Both Madison and Dineen parks have since been converted to disc golf courses that are also used to host local high school cross country meets.

Public input is being sought to determine the best use of the park’s green space in the future.

The meeting will be held at the Wisconsin Humane Society – Milwaukee Campus (4500 W. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53208) at 6 p.m.
