MILWAUKEE – Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) Superintendent Brenda Cassellius kicked off a Listen and Learn Tour on Monday, June 23, as part of her transition leading Wisconsin’s largest school district.
Over the next several weeks, members of the MPS community and the public will have the opportunity to share their thoughts and ideas about the future of the school district.
“While I’ve been listening and learning from a variety of stakeholders since I arrived in Milwaukee in mid-March, I’m excited to kick off this tour to hear directly from families, staff, and the community about their hopes and dreams for our students and our district,” said Dr. Cassellius. “There is so much opportunity in Milwaukee and we must be willing to come together and understand what has to change to make a difference for our young people. I’m excited to meet more of the MPS community this summer.”The initial listen and learn sessions will take place from June through August, with other events being added in the future. The first of eight sessions began Monday, June 23, at James Madison High School.
Superintendent Cassellius will use the information gathered at Listen and Learn Tour sessions to inform her areas of focus to advance the district forward, with an objective of accelerating student performance.
All events are free and open to the public.
Childcare and language interpretation services are available with advance notice, which can be done by signing up at mpsmke.com/listenlearntour. A full schedule also can be found on the webpage and below:.
