Sunstone Studios to present Gidion’s Knot by Johnna Adams

Milwaukee, WI (January 8th, 2023) – Sunstone Studios is proud to announce their first production of 2023: Gidion’s Knot by Johnna Adams, directed by Caroline Norton performed at the intimate Sunstone Studios space at 127 E Wells St. in Milwaukee. Tickets are pay-what-you-will, and valued at $33/seat. Tickets are available online at www.sunstonestudiosmke.com and at the door.

Gidion’s Knot tells the story of two women meeting in a classroom; one a teacher, one a parent, both grieving. The tangled conversation paints a compelling portrait of grief and loss and what it means to nurture a child. Director Caroline Norton said, “This compelling play features a story that educators and parents will find all too familiar. Gidion’s Knot is exactly the kind of theatre we need. It is engaging, emotional, and will spark discussion in our community about how to support our youth who are “othered.” I am proud to help tell this story and bring Johnna Adams’ words to life.”

Gidion’s Knot was originally produced at the Contemporary American Theatre Festival in Shepherdstown, West Virginia in 2012. The Washington Post called the play “[a] particularly eloquent study of people caught between the competing demands of reason, morality and family…”

Sunstone Studios’ production will feature actors Tina Nixon and Sarah Mankowski-Lathrum, directed by Caroline Norton. Production design by Colin Gawronski. Performances run from January 13th-28th, 2023.

• Season “flex passes” (four admissions) are also available for $99.
