Statement on Failure to Pass West Allis Mask Mandate
Angelito Tenorio, Alderman for the 1st District introduced the ordinance; says even though the mask mandate failed, he hopes people continue to wear masks and get vaccinated
West Allis, WI — On Wednesday night, the City of West Allis Common Council decided to deny an ordinance requiring face coverings in indoor public spaces by postponing it indefinitely with a vote of 7-2. 1st District Alderman Angelito Tenorio introduced the ordinance. As COVID-19 continues to surge, Alderman Tenorio hoped that passing a mask mandate in West Allis would be one key measure to help fight and defeat this pandemic. He is disappointed by the final result.
Moving forward, as we’re getting closer to the end of the pandemic, we must continue to get people vaccinated, maintain social distancing, keep up with proper sanitation, and wear masks. By following public health guidelines, we can and will save lives. My hope is that we beat this pandemic together.”
