Statement from the Milwaukee Board of School Directors
With regard to the news of Governor Evers announcing a request for services to conduct an independent operational audit of the Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) district, the Board issues the following statement:
“As we continue to focus on the students, families, staff and community of MPS, we welcome and appreciate the support of our partners in the governor’s office,” said Board President Marva Herndon. “We, too, are committed to identifying root causes of district challenges so they can be addressed moving forward.”
Our agenda item is “Consideration of and Possible Action on an Administrative Assignment Relative to the Duties of the Superintendent.” As is customary at Special Meetings of the Board, public testimony will not be taken. Also, the Board may retire to closed session, pursuant to Wisconsin Statutes 19.85(1)(c) to consider employment, promotion, compensation, or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility. The Board may return to open session to take action on matters introduced in closed session, or the Board may adjourn from the closed session.
