Statement from Mayor Tom Barrett on the Collins Settlement Agreement Report:

“The City of Milwaukee is committed to constitutional policing, and this recent report shows there is work to be done. We need to make sure both the actions of—and the documentation from—our police fully comply with our obligations.

“City government is committed to assist the police department with support and resources to attain the goals we have pledged to meet.

“The Fire and Police Commission has made excellent progress in fulfilling its responsibilities in the Collins settlement, and the Commission will continue to work with the police department on the necessary work ahead.

“Our City Attorney’s Office is in dialogue with the plaintiffs’ attorneys, and, if mediation is needed to clarify or resolve aspects of the Collins settlement, I would support that.”
