Some Wisconsinites Could See Premiums Go Up $30,000 Annually If Republicans Plan To End Government Shutdown Passes
MADISON, Wis. — Today, new numbers are detailing health care premiums will skyrocket by over $30,000 a year in some cases as a result of Republicans’ government shutdown, which they are waging to prevent health care funding. Tom Tiffany, Derrick Van Orden, and Bryan Steil have yet to answer on what they think about these increases. Republicans already jeopardized health care for 276,175 Wisconsinites when they passed the GOP’s Big Ugly Bill in July, and now they’re doubling down by pushing a plan that would raise health care costs for over 277,000 Wisconsinites who rely on the ACA.
“Wisconsin Republicans led by Tom Tiffany, Derrick Van Orden, and Bryan Steil owe their constituents answers about how they’re going to stop health care costs from going through the roof due to the GOP shutdown,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson Philip Shulman. “Do Tom Tiffany, Derrick Van Orden, and Bryan Steil actually support making people pay more for health care? Or will they finally stand up to their party’s attacks on working families? We’re not holding our breath.”NOTE: This press release was submitted to Urban Milwaukee and was not written by an Urban Milwaukee writer.
