Vivent Health is proud to announce that Dr. Brandon Hill, its President and CEO, has been elected President of the International Academy of Sex Research (IASR), a leading global scientific society dedicated to advancing high standards of research in the field of human sexual behavior. Dr. Hill will serve in this prominent leadership role while continuing to lead Vivent Health, underscoring his lifelong commitment to advancing health equity, scientific rigor, and LGBTQ+ advocacy.

Founded in 1973, IASR unites many of the field’s most accomplished researchers. According to Dr. John Bancroft, retired director of the Kinsey Institute, IASR “claims most of the field’s leading researchers.” Membership is by invitation only and requires demonstration of substantial contributions to sexology, including at least ten peer-reviewed publications. Distinguished members over the years have included Drs. Milton Diamond, Lisa Diamond, Richard Green, Leonore Tiefer, Ken Zucker, and many others. Now in its 50th year, IASR continues to shape the field through annual international meetings and publication of Archives of Sexual Behavior, one of the most respected journals in sexology. As President, Dr. Hill will work alongside a team of elected officers and advisors to shape the Academy’s global agenda for years to come.

“This work reflects who I am,” said Dr. Hill. “In addition to a doctorate and years of rigorous academic study, I grew up as a queer person of color, I understand the challenges of stigma firsthand. IASR has provided a platform for fearless inquiry and international dialogue since its start. I’m deeply honored to carry that legacy forward while continuing to lead our transformative work at Vivent Health.”

Dr. Hill’s storied career bridges science, advocacy, and care. Formerly, he was a researcher at the Kinsey Institute, where he now serves on its International Advisory Council. Dr. Hill has also held executive roles at Planned Parenthood of Great Plains, Howard Brown Health and the University of Chicago’s Ci3. His interdisciplinary training in gender studies and behavioral science has shaped a career focused on breaking down barriers to care and advancing health justice for marginalized and underserved communities.

“Brandon’s election reflects the respect he holds among his peers, and it affirms his standing among the most accomplished and visionary leaders in sex research,” said Dr. Debby Herbenick IASR past president.

At Vivent Health, Dr. Hill leads one of the nation’s largest providers of HIV health and social services, providing clinical care to more than 18,500 people and helping thousands more through outreach and education annually across six states. Under his leadership, Vivent Health continues to deliver industry-leading outcomes while fighting to protect access to HIV prevention, care, and treatment, especially amid growing political threats to public health.

“We have the tools to end the HIV epidemic,” Dr. Hill has said. “But without funding and coordinated leadership, those tools mean nothing. We cannot afford to let decades of progress unravel.”

At the helm of IASR, Dr. Hill will remain focused on advancing research, education, and advocacy for the most vulnerable while affirming sexuality’s important place in fostering fulfilling lives for all.
