Senator Hesselbein Reacts to Governor Evers’ State of the State Address
MADISON, Wis – Today, Governor Tony Evers delivered the State of the State Address. Senator Dianne Hesselbein (D-Middleton) released the following statement upon conclusion of the Governor’s remarks:
“Under Governor Evers’ leadership, the state of the state is strong. We began 2024 in the best fiscal position in our state’s 175-year history and consistently touted record-low unemployment rates. Wisconsinites are at work and working hard, and I am proud to support Governor Evers’ plan to address our state’s ongoing labor needs: address childcare needs, expand paid FMLA, and invest in public education.
“Beyond addressing our state’s workforce needs, Governor Evers called on the State Legislature to release the $125 million needed to address PFAS in Wisconsin; invest in mental health initiatives as he proposed in his budget; and expand access to contraception.
“Governor Evers’ priorities align with the values that the vast majority of Wisconsinites hold near to them. There are so many actions that we must take before this legislative session adjourns to support Wisconsinites, improve the lives of people residing here, and attract new families and individuals to our state.”
