Senator Fitzgerald Responds to 2017 Budget Address
"I was pleased to hear today that Governor Scott Walker is dedicated to continuing the positive reforms and fiscal responsibility of recent Republican budgets."
[Madison, WI] Today Governor Walker delivered his 2017 Budget Address laying out the administration’s priorities for the upcoming biennial budget.
Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald released the following statement:
“I was pleased to hear today that Governor Walker is dedicated to continuing the positive reforms and fiscal responsibility of recent Republican budgets. Today’s address emphasized a renewed commitment to many of the same priorities shared by Senate Republicans: improving our education system, investing in infrastructure, developing our state’s workforce, and reducing the tax burden on Wisconsin’s residents.
While I am thrilled that recent projections have demonstrated that Wisconsin is on strong financial footing going into this budget, I plan to exercise caution in determining how to allocate these resources to ensure that we remain responsible fiscal stewards.
I look forward to taking a closer look at each proposal enumerated in the Governor’s proposed budget as the Joint Committee on Finance begins its work.”
Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau) represent the 13th Senate District, which covers portions of Dodge, Jefferson, Waukesha, Washington, Dane, and Columbia counties.
