Senate Does Bare Minimum, Holds Redistricting Hearing

Madison, Wis. – The Senate Committee on Shared Revenue, Elections and Consumer Protection held a public hearing today on a Republican redistricting proposal. In response, Representative Deb Andraca (D-Whitefish Bay) issued the following statement:

“For nearly five hours citizens from across the state testified against the Republicans’ bill, with no one except the bill authors speaking in favor. A key theme that emerged from today’s testimony was a lack of trust in the process that produced this legislation.

“Today must be the start of a renewed statewide process in which both parties work together to build trust, ensure transparency, and incorporate public input. Redistricting is too important to be rushed. I look forward to working alongside legislators who are serious about redistricting reform in an honest effort to create a fair process that works for our state.”

Republicans love political theater while not dealing with the real issues that citizens of the State face on a day to day basis.
