Seeds of Health to Open Second Veritas High School Campus for 2027-28 School Year
New Veritas East Campus Will Build on Track Record of High Performance
MILWAUKEE (July 23) – Seeds of Health, Inc. – the nonprofit organization operating Seeds Schools – will be opening a second campus of the high-performing Veritas High School for the 2027-28 school year in response to significant community demand for the program. The new campus – Veritas East – along with the original Veritas High School – to be renamed Veritas West – will together serve more students seeking a high-quality education in Milwaukee through its focus on college readiness in a small-school environment. Veritas High School received an $800,000 Expansion and Planning Subgrant through Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI)’s Wisconsin Charter Schools Program, which supports the growth of high-quality charter schools in Wisconsin. These US Department of Education funds will be used for the expansion of Veritas High School to establish the new Veritas East campus.
Veritas High School (3025 W. Oklahoma Ave.) opened in 2001 as a public charter school to prepare students for postsecondary success and productive participation in their communities. Today, authorized by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Veritas educates 250 students annually. Veritas High School has a proven history of driving student success. 100% of students who remain at Veritas High School through their senior year graduate and graduate on time, and 100% of Veritas students have a postsecondary plan in place.
The new Veritas East campus, which will grow to 275 students by 2030-31, will be located at 2745 S. 13th St. in the building currently occupied by Seeds of Health’s Grandview High School, an alternative high school established in 1987 under the Children-At-Risk statute, through a partnership agreement with Milwaukee Public Schools. Grandview, Seeds of Health’s first school, will close after the 2026-27 school year due to a changing educational landscape in which alternative options for high school completion have expanded in Milwaukee. Seeds of Health’s Chief Executive Officer Jodi Weber said, “During this next chapter, we honor the legacy of Grandview High School as the foundation of our agency’s educational mission. By sunsetting the Grandview High School program and expanding Veritas, we are building on Seeds of Health’s long history of innovating and evolving to meet the needs of Milwaukee students and families.”
