MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) Secretary Randy Romanski received the Honorary American FFA Degree today during the 98th National FFA Convention & Expo in Indianapolis.

The Honorary American FFA Degree is given to those who advance agricultural education and FFA through outstanding personal commitment. The award recognizes individuals who have gone beyond valuable, daily contributions to make a long-term difference in the lives of students, and to inspire confidence in a new generation of agriculturists. Members of the National FFA Organization’s board of directors approved the awardees, and all recipients received a plaque and medal.

“It’s important to invest in our youth, and perhaps no organization knows that better than the FFA,” added Romanski. “Through efforts such as the Wisconsin Agriculture Youth Council, which is now in its sixth cohort, DATCP is able to engage with young agriculturists in Wisconsin, connect them with professionals and industry leaders across the state, and help them chart career pathways in agriculture. I am grateful to receive this recognition and extend my sincere thanks to the FFA.”

FFA is a school-based national youth leadership organization for those interested in agriculture and leadership. The National FFA Organization works to enhance the lives of youth through agricultural education. The organization develops members’ potential and helps them discover their talent through hands-on experiences, which give members the tools to achieve real-world success.
