Stephen H. Marcus Named Chairman Emeritus
[MILWAUKEE, WI, Feb. 25, 2020—] Sculpture Milwaukee, the city’s dynamic, annual outdoor art exhibition, announced that its Board of Directors has elected Wayne Morgan as the new Chairman of the Board, succeeding Founder and Chairman Steve Marcus.
Morgan, managing partner with Baker Tilly, has been a supporter of Sculpture Milwaukee since its inception in 2017. “I believe ardently in the power of public art to bring diverse communities together and spur economic growth. Sculpture Milwaukee has activated our city in new ways, and I’m honored to accept this important role. I am committed to growing Sculpture Milwaukee’s vision and look forward to continuing to work together to help Milwaukee thrive,” said Morgan.
The change in leadership speaks to Mr. Marcus’ passion for the project and his desire to make Sculpture Milwaukee a lasting presence in the city. He will remain deeply engaged with the 501(c)(3) as a member of the Executive Committee and Board.“Every successful organization needs to make succession planning a top priority. Sculpture Milwaukee has grown quickly to become an asset, one that deserves ongoing, exceptional investment in time and talent,” says Marcus.
With critical events such as the DNC, Ryder Cup and Association of Travel Writers Convention all taking place during their exhibition, Sculpture Milwaukee will reach its largest global audience to date with their 2020 exhibition. New sculptures will open to the public in mid-June, and remain on public view through mid-October.
“Wayne’s dedication and enthusiasm for Sculpture Milwaukee is inspiring, added Brian Schupper, executive director. “His commitment to the mutually beneficial relationship between business and the arts, along with his devotion to an ever-improving city of Milwaukee, make him the perfect person to take the torch from Mr. Marcus.”
