My parents and church community gave me a religious education the old fashion way: they paid for it themselves because it was important. Now families and church communities get the State to pick up the bill for a religious education. How can a church maintain its sense of a faith community when families can be involved without making the financial commitment that families have historically done. The core doctrine will be compromised to keep the non or marginal believers in the school so the church can collect more money from the school choice program.
