MILWAUKEE, WI (August 22, 2023) – Today, Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Ross Dress for Less recognized 10 outstanding local high school seniors who recently received the Ross Stores Scholarship.

Aimed at supporting and empowering teens as they explore opportunities beyond high school, the scholarship recognizes students who have displayed academic excellence, shown commitment to their community, and are active members of their Clubs. This year, 10 teens from Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee were selected, representing half of Ross’ total scholarship recipients.

“The Ross Stores Scholarship Program’s support is critical to students’ college success. I am proud that 10 of the 20 scholarships awarded were to our Milwaukee Clubs from the hundreds of applications and eligible Clubs,” said Andre Douglas, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee Assistant Vice President of College, Career, and Teen Services. “The burden of student loan debt is real and is an unfortunate reality for many students hoping to have a good college education. Thanks to the support of Ross Stores and the Ross Stores Scholarship Program, our scholars will not have to worry about that.”

As part of its commitment to fostering educational opportunities and supporting the next generation of leaders, and to celebrate the success of Greater Milwaukee applicants, Ross Stores hosted an exclusive event for the local scholarship recipients—Noah B., Jorge C., Jaritza I., Sofia G., Fanijha L., Leng M., Thai M., Asma O., Biak T., and Josiah T.— at a downtown Milwaukee Ross Dress for Less store. The recipients had the chance to connect with experienced store leaders, gain insights into retail operations with a behind-the-scenes tour of the store and enjoy a special shopping experience.

“Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee’s success in supporting students in their educational journey and pursuit of college is truly impressive,” said Leslie Oestreicher, Group Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility & Sustainability, Ross Stores, Inc. “We are proud to support the Clubs’ important work by offering these scholarships, and our Milwaukee-based store team was excited to celebrate the scholars’ achievements by providing a fun, educational experience that will help prepare them for college and future careers.”
