Milwaukee, Wisconsin–December, 2015. Riverwest Artists Association will host Jonathan Ellis Free Paint Get Togather, a community art exhibit and fundraiser, at the Jazz Gallery Center for the Arts, 926 E. Center Street in Milwaukee’s Riverwest.  The exhibit will run December 5-20, 2015.  Local community artist, Ellis, is looking to highlight the work of the past several summers where he has provided free painting opportunities for children and adults during the weekly Farmers’ Market.

Ellis explains, “I was always met with great enthusiasm and appreciation from the community at large during the summer Farmers’ Market.  For that, I am truly grateful. Over the years, many creators have made a piece or two or more to take with them as a keepsake, a gift, or treasured masterpiece. Many an artist has left their work behind, saying something like, ‘Maybe you can have an art show someday and sell my painting, you know, to do even more of this.’   I have a nice collection now, pieces by everyone, myself included, of course.”

The Free Paint Get Togather exhibit will consist of the many paintings left behind by their creators for the benefit of future participants.  All ages and ability levels are represented in this collection, creating a very interesting art show with the juxtaposition of named artists’ signed works and perhaps recognizable but unsigned works.  The exhibit opens December 5 and will remain on the Jazz Gallery walls throughout the various community events and concerts until December 20, when the exhibit will help fundraise during the RAA Annual Holiday Celebration and Silent Auction.

As a community art fundraiser, the Free Paint Get Togather exhibit will ensure Ellis may continue his work within the community, but also to help raise funds for the Riverwest Artists Association.  All displayed art pieces will be available for purchase at very reasonable prices, according to size.  Smaller pieces (4x4inches) are $10, medium (8x12inches) are $15, large (16x20inches) are $20.  Prices for very large pieces will be negotiable, with $50-$150 suggested.   RAA will earn 25% of each sale.

In the spirit of continuing the efforts of community-building through art, Ellis will continue to host Free Paint Get Togather live painting sessions on the following dates and times at the Jazz Gallery.

Saturday, December 5, Noon-4pm…Free Community Painting Session
Saturday, December 12, Noon-4pm…Free Community Painting Session
Sunday, December 13, Noon-4pm…Free Community Painting Session
Saturday, December 19, Noon-4pm…Free Community Painting Session

Ellis emphasizes, “This is an opportunity for families to enjoy quality time together as they create art within the inspiring environment of an art-filled Jazz Gallery. All are welcome to make art with me and with other Riverwest Artists while we celebrating our diverse community during this season.  Come view the exhibit and create your own art piece to share with loved ones…or to display them on the exhibit walls.”

Free Paint Get Togather exhibit is free and open to the public on Tuesday nights and Saturday afternoons.  The exhibit will run December 5-20.  The Jazz Gallery Center for the Arts is located at 926 E. Center Street.
