Ring, Bray Power Marquette over Seton Hall
The Golden Eagles claim their first BIG EAST road victory of the 2025 campaign.
SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Marquette University volleyball team (10-5, 4-1 BIG EAST) opened BIG EAST road play on Friday afternoon, taking down Seton Hall (6-10, 0-5 BIG EAST) in four sets.
Natalie Ring recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 19 kills and 14 digs, while Hattie Bray hit an efficient .654 from the floor with just two errors on 19 kills for the Golden Eagle offense. Isabela Haggard notched 39 assists in the contest to lead Marquette to a .310 team hitting percentage, and Adriana Studer finished with a match-high 16 digs.
Marquette carried its momentum into the second set, pulling ahead early behind strong serving from Mari King and Studer to build an 11-5 lead. The Golden Eagles kept Seton Hall under pressure from the service line, adding a pair of aces from Bray while continuing to control the net. Despite a brief Pirate push midway through the frame, Marquette’s balance and efficiency on offense proved too much, as the Golden Eagles closed out a 25-16 win and a 2-0 lead in the match.
After Marquette’s strong performances in the first two sets, the third opened with both sides trading points early. Ring quickly found her rhythm again, recording six kills throughout the set as she continued to anchor the offense. Seton Hall gained momentum late, capitalizing on Golden Eagle errors to edge out the frame 25-23 and stay alive in the match.
Marquette responded strongly after dropping the third set, as the Golden Eagles jumped ahead early behind solid blocking from Radeff and Keira Schmidt. Marquette weathered a brief Seton Hall surge midway through the frame, with Ring continuing her standout night with several key kills. MU closed with four-straight points, capped off by a kill from Bray to take set four, 25-20, and win the match, 3-1.
