Residents send clear message: County needs to share plan to reopen McGovern Senior Center
Statement from Alderwoman Andrea M. Pratt October 21, 2025
Since Milwaukee County made the decision to close the McGovern Senior Center indefinitely, I have continued to hear from residents in the area about their frustration regarding the closure, displeasure with communication, and concern that the facility will not reopen.
Residents should also be aware that senior programming and aging services offered at McGovern Senior Center are also available at these locations:
- Clinton Rose Senior Center — 3045 N. Dr. Martin Luther King Dr., Milwaukee.
- Washington Park Senior Center — 4420 W. Vliet St., Milwaukee.
- Kelly Senior Center — 6100 S. Lake Dr., Cudahy.
- Wilson Senior Center — 2601 W. Howard Ave., Milwaukee.
I would also encourage neighbors to make sure they continue to voice their concerns and displeasure with County leaders. A County budget listen and learn session will be held TODAY – Tuesday, October 21 at 11 a.m. at the Clinton Rose Senior Center, and an additional budget town hall is set for Tuesday, October 28 at 5 p.m. at the Mitchell Park Pavilion, 2200 W. Pierce St.
