Residents Encouraged To Apply Today for FEMA Flood Assistance
Alderwoman Marina Dimitrijevic and Alderman Mark Chambers, Jr. are encouraging residents to apply today for flood-related relief provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Assistance is available on a first come, first served basis for Wisconsin counties impacted by recent severe storms and flooding. The disaster declaration is expected to make nearly $30 million in FEMA Individual Assistance available to affected counties.
Residents who sustained losses and damage to their homes are now able to apply for FEMA assistance online at DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling the FEMA helpline at 1-800-621-3362. For any questions about FEMA Individual Assistance and how to apply, call the FEMA helpline or email AskIA@fema.dhs.gov. The FEMA helpline is available from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.
“Residents who are still in need of support in the aftermath of last month’s storms and flooding should apply today for FEMA assistance. Funding is available on a first come, first served basis, so don’t wait. Visit the FEMA website or call the helpline to get started,” said the Council Members.
Please note FEMA cannot provide assistance for disaster needs that have been met by another source such as insurance or other programs. However, if your insurance or another program does not cover all your disaster-caused needs, individuals may be eligible for assistance from FEMA.
