Republican politicians continue fixation on banning abortion
MADISON — Today, Joel Urmanski, Republican District Attorney in Sheboygan County, filed an appeal on the landmark ruling made by Dane County Circuit Judge Diane Schlipper that Wisconsin State Statute 940.04 does not apply to consensual abortion. In response, Sen. Kelda Roys (D-Madison) issued the following statement:
“This shows, yet again, that Republican politicians will stop at nothing to ban abortion and criminalize health care in opposition of the needs of the people they represent. To protect abortion rights, we need to have leaders at every level of government who will support and defend reproductive freedom.
“As I’ve said before, we must continue to fight for constitutional protection of reproductive rights in our statehouses and courtrooms. We must educate and empower ourselves and each other by urging everyone to get an advance prescription for medication abortion, to have in our medicine cabinets before we need it. Every American can order it safely and affordably online from AidAccess.org.”
