MADISON, Wis – Today, Legislative Democrats introduced the “Lowering Costs, Improving Lives” package to help working families across our state. The three-bill package would reduce the tax burden for low-income renters and homeowners by expanding the Homestead Tax Credit, cut the costs of grocery bills for families by enacting Healthy School Meals for All, and decrease prescription drug prices through our Less for Rx agenda.

Representative Snodgrass(D- Appleton) released the following statement regarding the package:

“We were elected to get to work to improve people’s lives. In my district and throughout the state, voters made it clear that they want us to take action to help them save on groceries and prescription drugs, better afford their home, and increase their enjoyment of the Wisconsin way of life. Our Lowering Costs, Improving Lives package will help working families, seniors, and folks in every corner of our state with their cost of living, so they have the freedom, opportunity, and economic security to live their best lives.”

I am particularly proud to introduce Less for Rx legislation to lower the cost of prescription drugs in Wisconsin. In conversations with voters this summer, seniors in particular made it clear to me that the cost of needed prescriptions are far too high.  Some even shared they were skipping  doses or splitting pills to stretch medication refills. Nobody in our state should be forced to choose between purchasing necessary medications and putting food on their table. Our Lowering Costs, Improving Lives package takes real steps at delivering financial relief for Wisconsin’s working families and improves the lives of folks around our state. We look forward to continuing to focus on the real issues impacting folks in Wisconsin instead of fringe issues nobody is asking for.”
