Representative Shelia Stubbs Thanks Governor Evers for His Service to the State of Wisconsin

Madison, WI – Today, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers announced that after serving two terms, he will not be seeking re-election. Representative Shelia Stubbs (D-Madison) released the following statement:

“I would like to recognize Governor Evers for his accomplished tenure in office, his historic investments in the wellbeing of every single resident of our state, and for his enduring compassion and empathy as a leader.

Governor Evers and I were inaugurated in the same year, 2019, and ever since he has been a supportive partner in many important policy areas. I want to thank him for creating the Council of Equity and Inclusion and creating the Office of Violence Prevention, both based on bills that I have introduced in the Legislature. I would also like to thank him for including several critical initiatives, including increased reimbursement for special education, a Missing and Murdered African American Women and Girls Task Force, lifesaving policy initiatives for mothers and babies known as the Birth Equity Act, and safety measures for retention ponds, in his 2023-2025 Executive Budget.

Governor Evers, your leadership, kindness, and resolve to get things done for the people of Wisconsin will be greatly missed in our Capitol. I wish you and your family all the best moving forward.”
