MADISON, WI – On Thursday, April 10, Representative Shelia Stubbs joined Attorney General Josh Kaul and local victim services providers and advocates for a roundtable discussion at Domestic Abuse Intervention Services during National Crime Victims’ Rights Week. Representative Stubbs also joined the Attorney General for a press conference highlighting funding needs for victims’ services. Representative Shelia Stubbs (D-Madison) released the following statement:
I am thankful that Governor Evers issued Executive Order #254 creating the Office of Violence Prevention, which I initially introduced as a bill in 2021 and have reintroduced every legislative session since. Governor Evers has allocated $10 million for the creation of the Office, which will help organizations that prevent violence and support victims throughout Wisconsin.
I will continue introducing legislation and supporting budgetary measures that go toward aiding victims of crime and their families, and I will continue to stand with our community partners and the invaluable work they do every day to make our state a safer, more just place.”
