Representative Clancy Thrilled by Judge’s Decision to Overturn Act 10
This is a victory for Wisconsin Workers
MADISON, Wis. – Judge Jacob Frost, after hearing a case brought on by several unions representing public employees, overturned the ban on collective bargaining in Wisconsin known as Act 10. Judge Frost ruled that provisions of Act 10 were unconstitutional. The lawsuit argued that the two classes of employees created by Act 10, “general” and “public safety,” violated equal protection guarantees.
Representative Clancy (D-19) issued the following statement:“I was a teacher in Milwaukee Public Schools during Act 10 thirteen years ago. I saw firsthand the negative impact that the lack of collective bargaining had not only on our profession of teaching but also the schools, students, and our communities.
I am thrilled that the decision of Judge Jacob Frost will restore power to workers and the larger community. This is a crucial step to ensuring that every Wisconsin worker has access to fair and equitable working conditions. I will continue to stand in solidarity with labor.”
