Rep. Sequanna Taylor to Host “Re-entry Unblemished: From Black Codes to Jim Crow” Event with Representative Russell Goodwin
MILWAUKEE, Wis — State Representative Sequanna Taylor, in collaboration with State Representative Russell Goodwin, is proud to host Re-entry Unblemished: From Black Codes to Jim Crow on Monday, February 10th, 2025 at 5:30 PM. It will be located at The Missing Peace located at 3248 W. Brown Street, Milwaukee, WI 53208. This critical event will examine the historical and systematic barriers faced by individuals reentering society post-incarceration, while fostering discussion on policy reforms and community-driven solutions.
Representative Taylor (D-Milwaukee) released the following statement:
“Our criminal justice system has disproportionately impacted communities of color for centuries. From Black Codes to Jim crow, who is still alive and kicking, we have seen policies designed to marginalize and disenfranchise. This event is about educating, engaging, and empowering our communities to advocate for meaningful change.
“Reentry is a process that extends beyond simply returning home – it’s about restoring dignity, access, and opportunity. It is our responsibility to ensure that those who have served their time are given the resources and opportunities to rebuild their lives. This event will highlight the historical injustices that have shaped our current reentry challenges while engaging in meaningful discussions on how we can create a more just system for all.”
