Rep. Goodwin Condemns Milwaukee Violence, Calls for Justice
MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Representative Goodwin expresses profound sorrow and condemnation following the tragic shooting that claimed the life of 33-year-old Brenisha Butcher, a mother of four, and injured her sister, Brittany Butcher, early Sunday morning near 107th Street and Granville Road.
This weekend, our community suffered an unspeakable tragedy. A mother of four—full of life, with a bright future ahead of her—was taken from us far too soon.
Her children will now grow up without their mother. Her dreams, her hard work, and all that she was striving toward stolen in an instant. This is not just a loss for her family, but for all of us. Because every time we lose a life to senseless violence, we lose potential, we lose hope, we lose another piece of our community.
This has to stop!
I want to be clear: The person responsible for this needs to turn themselves in. And if you know something—if you saw something—I urge you to come forward. Do it for her. Do it for her kids. Do it because no family should have to endure this kind of pain.
We can, and we must, do better. We owe it to her. We owe it to our city.
