WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Scott Fitzgerald (WI-05) questioned FBI Director Kash Patel on the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk and the FBI’s subsequent investigation during a House Judiciary Committee hearing entitled “Oversight of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.”

Congressman Fitzgerald first questioned FBI Director Patel about how the shooter got up on the roof in the first place.

“According to public reports, the alleged shooter arrives on the Utah Valley University campus nearly four hours before the shooting. The suspect is then captured on security footage jumping off the roof of the alleged shooting location,” said Congressman Scott Fitzgerald. “I think for members of Congress, especially after Butler, Pennsylvania, it’s just unimaginable that there could be some type of security breakdown prior to an event of that size where somebody could access a rooftop.”

Congressman Fitzgerald also questioned FBI Director Patel about whether or not the shooter acted alone.

“Public reports have suggested the shooter acted alone. But given the discovery of Discord messages and text messages between the shooter and his boyfriend, the public deserves answers,” said Congressman Scott Fitzgerald. “I’m sure the FBI will continue to investigate fully and thoroughly. I raise this concern because I’m not convinced that was the case in Butler, Pennsylvania.”
