Rep. Brown Introduces Veterans Promise Package
MADISON – Today, Legislative Democrats introduced a package of bills that honors veterans. Representative Brienne Brown proudly co-authored this package and is the second lead author on the bill that would fully fund The UW MIA Recovery and Identification Project.
Representative Brown (D-Whitewater) released the following statement:
When I meet veterans, the first issue they raise is The UW MIA Recovery and Identification Project. They don’t bring up their property taxes or healthcare. They bring up those who never made it home. Missing soldiers leave a hole in every veteran’s heart and in the hearts of their families. They continue to ask their government: bring home their missing brothers and sisters.
We are lucky to have a state-of-the-art forensics program like this at our flagship institution. Volunteers run the program. These veterans and students simply need funding for overseas trips, so they can identify the remains of 1,500 MIA Wisconsinites and bring them home. Time is of the essence. We must invest in this program while the families of WWII veterans are still with us. These soldiers deserve to be remembered and buried in Wisconsin.”
