Rep. Andraca’s Statement on SCOWIS Legislative Maps Decision

By - Dec 22nd, 2023 03:32 pm

Madison, Wis. – Today, the Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled Wisconsin’s legislative district maps are unconstitutional and new ones must be put in place for future elections. Representative Deb Andraca (D–Whitefish Bay) issued the following statement:

“Today’s ruling recognizes what most Wisconsin voters have known for years – our legislative maps are unfair and unconstitutional. With new maps that keep districts in one piece and our communities together, we have an opportunity to start fresh, overcome the divisions of the past, and move our state forward.

“It is my sincere hope that 2024 is the year the will of the people finally becomes the law of the land.”
