Rep. Andraca Statement on Wisconsin Supreme Court Decision
MADISON, Wis. – Today, the Wisconsin Supreme Court announced its decision to uphold Governor Evers’ partial line-item veto in the 2023-25 state budget that increased per-pupil funding by $325 annually through 2425.
Wisconsin State Representative Deb Andraca (D – Whitefish Bay) released the following statement regarding the court’s ruling:
“Our communities should not have to depend on court rulings, or go to referenda time and time again, in order to ensure that our local public schools have the resources they need to thrive and properly educate our kids.
“I hope today’s decision is a wake-up call for my Republican colleagues to finally step up and adequately fund our public schools, so that neither our courts nor property taxpayers across our state need to continue to step up to do their job for them.”
