MILWAUKEE – Nolan Rappis set a new program record with 10 points as the Marquette University men’s lacrosse team captured the first win of Jake Richard‘s career as head coach on Saturday afternoon over Detroit Mercy, 16-6, at Valley Fields.

The Golden Eagles (1-1) spotted the Titans an early 2-0 lead before reeling off a 12-1 run that spanned the half to take full control. Rappis set new career bests with five goals and five assists, while fellow attackman Bobby O’Grady notched the eighth five-goal game of his career.

MU junior Lucas Lawas made nine saves in net for his first career victory, while Jack Kask played the final 5:47 of regulation.

The Golden Eagles held a 49-26 edge in shots, won 19-of-26 faceoffs and captured 10 more ground balls than the Titans.

Detroit Mercy (0-2) was led by two goals apiece from Caden Loken and Cedarburg, Wisconsin-native Marcus Thundercloud.
