NEW YORK — With the start of the 2026 season just 18 days away, the BIG EAST Conference released its Men’s Lacrosse Preseason Coaches’ Poll and Preseason All-BIG EAST Team on Tuesday afternoon. Graduate student Nolan Rappis was a unanimous selection, while senior captain Peter Detwiler also earned a spot on the team.

The Golden Eagles were picked to finish fourth in the league’s annual preseason coaches’ poll and will look to build momentum after posting their first winning regular season since 2016.

Rappis, a 2025 All-BIG EAST Second Team selection, totaled 32 goals and 15 assists last season. He ranked among the top eight players in the conference in both goals and assists during the 2025 campaign.

Detwiler, the lone 2026 captain for the Golden Eagles, earned 2025 USA Lacrosse All-America Honorable Mention honors and was also named to the 2025 All-BIG EAST Second Team. During the 2025 season, he recorded 37 ground balls, caused seven turnovers, and scored three goals.

Marquette will travel to Annapolis, Maryland, this Friday, Jan. 23rd for scrimmages against Navy and Virginia. The Golden Eagles open the regular season on National Marquette Day, Saturday, Feb. 7, when they host the University of Michigan Wolverines at 11:00 a.m. CT.
