Press Release

Quasimondo premieres The Nautical Tragedy of Dick III: A Crude Sea Shanty Side Show

Directed by Brian Rott & Jessi Miller. August 25th ‐ September 10th @ Studio Q above Company Brewing in Riverwest (and Saturday, August 27th @ MKE Fringe Festival)

By - Jul 31st, 2016 10:32 pm

Ahoy, mateys! Feast your eye on the mottled crew of the scurvy Seaharse and its blood‐rusty master, Captain Richard II Hooks. Shiver ye timbers at perils galore: Marauding radicals, ravenous cannibals, pirating queens, and the crimson cloak of the Indies Doctor Nemo. Gird your loins to encounter the great white colossus, wail in wonder at the booty in its bowels, and call me…

The Nautical Tragedy of Dick III is proudly presented by Quasimondo Physical Theatre. This original tour‐de‐farce mashes classic lit to a pregnable gruel ‐ a swirling concoction of misfit mariners and twisted missions. Baited with puppetry, dance, clowns, and shanties, this high‐sea adventure plunges into disparate diets, catching the bends of injustice to expunge what’s gettin’ our guts.

Tharr she blows! Feed your frenzy and set your sails for The Nautical Tragedy of Dick III.

Quasimondo Physical Theatre is an ensemble of multidisciplinary artists committed to creating original work through inter‐arts collaboration. We explore forms of performance and fuse modes of expression, challenging theatrical paradigms to create innovative work that is aural, kinetic, visual, and visceral. We strive through research, training, and performance to expose ourselves and audiences to international theatrical traditions and perspectives. It is our mission to make theatre that celebrates the diversity of the world we live in, that communicates in a common sensory language; that inspires audiences and enriches the community.
