Public meeting set for proposed WIS 181 improvement project in Milwaukee County

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), in partnership with the City of Wauwatosa, is hosting a public meeting to discuss the proposed improvements to WIS 181 (Glenview Avenue/Wauwatosa Avenue), between Wisconsin Avenue and Center Street in Milwaukee County. The meeting will follow an informal, open house format. Project representatives will be available to discuss the project on an individual basis.

5 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Wauwatosa Lower Civic Center (Wauwatosa City Hall – 7725 West North Avenue)

The meeting facility is transit and wheelchair accessible. Those who would like an interpreter at the meeting, or another accommodation, can contact WisDOT project manager Doug Cain at (262) 548-5603, or Douglas.Cain@dot.wi.gov. Hearing impaired individuals needing assistance may contact the WisDOT representative via the Wisconsin Telecommunication Relay System (dial 711). To allow time for arranging accommodations, please call several workdays prior to the meeting.

About the Project
The purpose of this project is to address the aging infrastructure and improve traffic flow through this vital corridor. This project will improve safety at key intersections, replace deteriorating pavement and outdating traffic signals, upgrade curb ramps, sidewalks and crossings, improve drainage and storm sewer systems, and provide consistent bike and pedestrian connections throughout the corridor. Construction is tentatively scheduled for 2031 and 2032.
