Public Libraries in Milwaukee County Launch New CountyCat Mobile App
Access to Library Information From iOS and Android Mobile Devices
MILWAUKEE – The long-awaited replacement for the CountyCat Mobile app is now here!
Built on Communico’s Engage platform, the CountyCat Mobile app puts Milwaukee County libraries at your fingertips. From any iOS and Android mobile devices you can instantly tap into library resources, anytime, anywhere. You can search the library catalog, manage your library account, view the latest materials, access ebooks and audiobooks, find your local library, view library events and more.
To access the mobile app, point your device browser to https://www.mcfls.org/mobile or search “CountyCat Mobile App” in the Apple App Store or Google Play.
“Many people live on their mobile devices these days, so it’s important for the library to be easily accessible whenever and wherever people need access to those rich resources,” says Steve Heser, Director, Milwaukee County Federated Library System (MCFLS). “The new CountyCat Mobile app puts library information just one click away with much better access to library resources than our previous app. We encourage everyone to take advantage of these enhancements by downloading the new version.”
Jennifer Schmidt, Library Systems Administrator, MCFLS, says the new CountyCat Mobile app offers additional features, such as displaying the user’s library card number for use on self-check machines or in-person at the library. Access to digital content is greatly improved in this version, including integrations to OverDrive ebooks and audiobooks as well as RBDigital online magazines.
Searching the catalog with the mobile app is much improved in this version. You can now limit your search by author, title or subject and also filter results by formats, such as books or DVDs. Once you find the title you’re looking for, you can place it on hold right from your phone.
The CountyCat Mobile app includes locations and up-to-date events for all Milwaukee County libraries. “This tool helps you locate the nearest library and library hours,” North Shore Library Director Susan Draeger-Anderson said. “Current library events are organized by library and accessible in seconds.”
