Public information meeting for IH 794 Lakefront Gateway Project in Milwaukee County

Meeting to focus on the preferred roadway layout, affect on County park lands, bicycle/pedestrian facilities, and Master Plan concepts.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Southeast Region in Waukesha and the City of Milwaukee are announcing a public information meeting to present concepts and hear public comments for the IH 794 Lakefront Gateway Project in Milwaukee. WisDOT, in partnership with the City of Milwaukee and Milwaukee County, will hold the meeting on May 13 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Miller Room at O’Donnell Park, 910 East Michigan Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The Lakefront Gateway Project includes the study and evaluation of the realignment of the Lincoln Memorial Drive I794 ramps and local roads, including an extension of North Lincoln Memorial Drive and associated street improvements to East Clybourn Street and North Harbor Drive.

The meeting will be held in an open house format allowing participants to view concepts and provide feedback for the proposed improvement including:

  • Preferred alternative for the roadway layout
  • How proposed plans affect Milwaukee County park lands
  • Development of bicycle/pedestrian facilities
  • Master Plan concepts

WisDOT and City of Milwaukee representatives will be available to discuss the project and familiarize participants with the design alternatives. The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input and ask questions. The Milwaukee Lakefront Gateway Project is a unique collaboration among the City of Milwaukee, State of Wisconsin and Milwaukee County to improve connections to the lakefront, downtown Milwaukee and the Historic Third Ward. It also has the potential to create new development opportunities while improving access and safety.
