PPAWI Political Fund Launches Ad on Hovde’s Anti-Abortion Positions
Madison, Wis. – With Election Day less than a month away, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin Political Fund is launching a six-figure ad buy targeting Eric Hovde’s radical positions on reproductive freedom.
By contrast, Senator Tammy Baldwin has been a champion for Wisconsinites and reproductive freedom. She has spent her decades-long career in Congress advancing legislation to expand access to the full spectrum of reproductive health care and will continue to fight for Wisconsinites’ right to make their own decisions about their lives.
Here’s a refresher on Hovde’s record on reproductive freedom:
- Hovde said he was “totally opposed to abortion” and “I oppose legalized abortion”
- Now he is trying to cover up his past stance by saying he always supported exceptions, despite previously saying he supported just “rape or incest.”
- His 2012 campaign page said “We Must Defend And Protect All Human Life From Conception To Natural Death.”
- Hovde falsely said emergency contraception can cause an abortion and compared it to “hard narcotics”
- Hovde supported the overturning of Roe v. Wade.
- He was endorsed by a far-right anti-abortion group pushing to make abortion “legally unacceptable,” that said that Hovde “indicated strong support for federal right-to-life issues, should he be elected”
The ad is being run statewide on connected TV and digital. The ad is paid for by Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin Political Fund. Not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s agent or committee.
