Port Washington EMT Charged with Possession of Child Pornography

By - Aug 7th, 2025 09:25 am

PORT WASHINGTON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) today announced that Timothy Garret Lund, a part-time Emergency Medical Technician employed, at the time, by the Port Washington Fire Department, has been charged with one count of possession of child pornography.

The criminal complaint, filed by the Ozaukee County District Attorney’s Office, alleges that Lund sent child sexual abuse material online, while logged into an IP address controlled by the City of Port Washington Police Department, which shares internet access with the City of Port Washington Fire Department. Lund was arrested and charged last week.

This charge is merely an accusation. As in any criminal case, the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

This investigation was led by DCI with assistance from the Port Washington Police Department. The Port Washington Fire Department is cooperating with this investigation. The Ozaukee County District Attorney’s Office is prosecuting the case.

i fins it interesting that this press release says the statement ‘a defendant is presumed innocent,….’ i don’t recall seeing this sentence in many other press releases about charged people. does this only happen when the defendant is white and involves child sexual abuse??

I see statements like this, or at least emphasis on “accused” in press releases and articles all the time. Pretty standard stuff, and I’m sure every organization has their own wording. (The tone of the press release or article beyond this caveat may well be a different matter, indeed, but the caveat largely seems to exist in some way.)

Injecting some vague specter of racism here without evidence (or even argument) is simply wrong.

All press release writers are innocent until proven guilty. 😉

@tornado75 – That’s a boiler plate statement from the USDOJ and Wisconsin Department of Justice in their announcements. You can see it used in prior press releases.
