Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin Celebrates Election of Judge Chris Taylor to Wisconsin Supreme Court
Milwaukee, WI — Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin (PPAWI) celebrates the election of Chris Taylor to the Wisconsin Supreme Court—a result that reflects what Wisconsinites value: fairness, freedom, and a justice system that works for people.
“Wisconsin voters believe in fairness, freedom, and a justice system that works for everyone,” said Tanya Atkinson, President of PPAWI. “They elected a justice who brings those values to the bench and understands what’s at stake for people across our state.”
Courts shape some of the most personal and consequential decisions in our lives—from our ability to access health care to whether our rights are protected under the law. At a time when those freedoms are increasingly under threat, Wisconsin voters made clear they want a court grounded in integrity, independence, and respect for the rule of law.
Judge Taylor brings nearly three decades of experience—as an attorney, legislator, and judge—consistently standing up for constitutional freedoms and equal justice. She is widely respected for her fairness, preparation, and deep respect for the law.
Her record reflects a clear commitment to protecting access to health care and advancing policies that put people first. During her time with Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin and PPAWI, she helped build and defend Wisconsin’s Medicaid family planning program, led legal and policy strategies to expand contraceptive access, and fought to ensure patients could get the care they need without interference.
“Wisconsin’s highest court now includes one of our community’s most thoughtful legal minds,” Atkinson said. “Justice-elect Taylor understands that our freedoms—including the ability to make our own health care decisions—must be protected. And we know that is a perspective critical to the State Supreme Court.”
PPAWI organizers and volunteers knocked on over 37,000 doors and had 4,468 conversations with voters during this election cycle. Voters told us that access to abortion and protecting our reproductive freedoms were the most important issues to them. Justice-elect Taylor made her values clear that she has spent her career fighting for these freedoms and voters showed up in force to agree– according to preliminary numbers, Justice-elect Taylor won the election by 20 points.
