Pius Xi Catholic High School Students Earn 147 Awards in the 2026 Regional Scholastic Art and Writing Competition

MILWAUKEE, WI) This year, Pius XI Catholic High School earned a total of 147 awards in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards competition. 118 awards were given for visual art, and 29 for written work. Pius XI Catholic High School students received more statewide awards than any other school. Artwork was selected from students across all grade levels and all visual art teachers were recognized.

Pius XI visual art students were awarded the following awards: Portfolio – Gold Key (two), Portfolio – Silver Key (two) Portfolio, Portfolio Honorable Mention (five); individual awards: 21 Gold Keys, 32 Silver Keys, and 56 Honorable Mentions. Pius XI students also earned 29 Scholastic Writing Awards in the Southeast Wisconsin Writing Region, including four Gold Keys, 13 Silver Keys, and 12 Honorable Mentions. Recognized pieces spanned memoirs, short stories, flash fiction, speculative fiction, and poetry. Submissions included a mix of works created in Pius XI’s Accelerated English 10 and Creative Writing courses, as well as personal pieces.

The Scholastic Art Awards – Wisconsin Exhibition will be on view January 31 through March 15, 2026 at the Milwaukee Art Museum, 700 N. Art Museum Drive, Milwaukee, WI 53202. The Scholastic Visual Art Awards Ceremony – Wisconsin Awards Day at the Milwaukee Art Museum is on Saturday, February 8 from 10:30 AM – 4:15 PM. Graduating Pius XI Visual Art students will also be exhibiting their work during the Pius XI Student Art Show on Tuesday March 31, 2026 from 7:00-9:00 PM, and Wednesday, April 1, 2026 from 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM at Pius XI Catholic High School, 135 N. 75th Street, Milwaukee, WI 53213.
