On the passing of Wayne Frank

Statement of Alderman Michael J. Murphy April 7, 2022

By - Apr 7th, 2022 03:02 pm

I am saddened to learn of the passing of Wayne Frank, a long-serving former member of the Common Council who retired in 2000.

I served with Wayne for 11 years, and he was a seasoned and respected public servant who had an impactful career at City Hall. He was deeply proud to serve the near south side and the constituents and businesses of the 8th Aldermanic District.

When he wasn’t focused on city matters, Wayne Frank was usually writing and conducting research in his “other life”: Writing for the stage. Wayne, who served as chair of the Milwaukee Arts Board, was an accomplished playwright and writer, and his works were staged by the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre and the Milwaukee Chamber Theatre.

I send my prayers to Wayne’s family and friends. May he rest in peace.

  1. Paul Nannis says:

Wayne did much to help 16th Street Community Health Center in the ’80’s, few likely know this but it was Wayne that basically single handedly help us receive the last of the CDBG block grants for capital projects….allowing 16th St. to do it’s first renovation, from a storefront to a “real” clinic.
He was a true friend of the community!!!!
