While Underly hid in her basement, Brittany Kinser showed up and shared her message of restoring high standards with students, families, and other voters ready to see a transformation in our education system.
During her conversations with Madison One City and Marquette, Brittany highlighted the following positions as part of her winning message as the next DPI Superintendent:
- It’s unacceptable that only 3 out of 10 students are college- or career-ready. We must restore high standards to ensure every child can go to college, get a meaningful job, or master a trade.
- We must get back to teaching the science of reading and phonics to ensure 95 percent of Wisconsin students are reading proficient. Under Jill Underly, 95 percent of Black students in Milwaukee are NOT reading proficient.
- While Jill Underly finds herself at odds with state and local leaders, Brittany Kinser will make DPI a bridge-building agency that works hand-in-hand with leaders in Madison and school districts across the state to ensure our students have the BEST they deserve.
