MILWAUKEE – Today, the Milwaukee Teachers’ Education Association (MTEA) announced its endorsements in five school board races to be held this spring.

MTEA has endorsed the following school board candidates:

Member at Large (Citywide): Melissa Zombor
District 1: Marva Herndon
District 2: Erika Siemsen
District 3: Gabi Hart
District 8: Megan O’Halloran

MTEA President Amy Mizialko issued the following statement:

“By re-electing Governor Tony Evers in November, voters made it clear once again that strong, well-funded public schools are a top priority. In the same election, voters soundly rejected a candidate who ran on a platform of defunding public schools and increasing public funding for private voucher and charter schools. Milwaukee played an instrumental role in delivering Governor Evers’ victory.

“In this April’s school board elections, Milwaukee voters face a similar choice. MTEA members have endorsed five candidates who are unapologetic champions of public schools and who promise to work to protect MPS students, workers and our community from the continued attacks of the unregulated private voucher and charter school industry. We are ready to get to work to educate voters about the candidates and deliver results for our students and public education workers.”
