Milwaukee, WI — The MPS School Board Recall Collaborative is excited to announce a press conference on Wednesday, July 24th, at 4:30 PM, at Gordon Park, followed by a community meeting. We are also thrilled to share that we have collected 37,000 signatures and counting in our recall efforts. Our deepest gratitude goes to all our committed volunteers and those who signed up for paid canvassing work, which started this past Saturday, July 19th, at both Brady Fest and Garfield’s Day. This incredible achievement would not have been possible without the dedication of those who share our vision for change in this city. We welcome more volunteers and paid canvassers to join our historic efforts and help us meet our goal of 60,000 signatures.

EVENT DETAILS:

  • Press Conference: Wednesday, July 24th, at 4:30 PM
  • Location: Gordon Park, near the playground and splash pad
  • Community Meeting: Immediately following the press conference

“With the announcement of the new Interim Superintendent of MPS, we continue to feel deceived and bamboozled by the blatant disregard shown by the current board of elected public officials. We will not stop until our message of collective, community-led change is both seen and felt. While complaints have been filed by the current Citywide School Board Director Missy Zombor and others affiliated with the MTEA (Teacher’s Union) to discredit our movement, we remain undeterred. While the MPS Board of Directors calls for more parent and community involvement, they continue to show this community (time and time again) that they discourage and reject our presence and support by consistently rejecting our voices, isolating our people and communities, and robbing the City of Milwaukee blindly. Enough is enough. This movement is led by the same taxpayers who supported the $252 million referendum that promised better outcomes and achievement for our children and schools but delivered empty promises, deception, and the unveiling of deeply rooted corruption. We are eager to rally our community of black families and students who are sick and tired of being sick and tired, to get these inept leaders out of office and expose the corruption of a system that has historically failed black and brown children and families throughout the City of Milwaukee. We will not stop until we show people that we can create the changes that these leaders have failed to deliver.”

Please make a donation of any amount on our website at mpsrecalls2024.com and sign up to be a volunteer or paid canvasser. This is the first time in Milwaukee’s history that there will be a successful recall effort, and we are excited to be leading this charge, organizing and mobilizing the people, and creating the changes that our children, families, and communities need and deserve.

Sign a petition and invite others to do so at one of our petition hubs located at Walmart (both, East Capitol Drive and Brown Deer Rd), Midtown Pick N Save, and the DMV on Chase Avenue, starting on Thursday, July 25th, from 12-4:00 PM daily. Please come to sign a petition and invite others to do the same. We also encourage everyone to join us in demanding public testimony at Thursday’s Regular Board Meeting located at 5225 West Vliet Street, and demand answers on how the Interim Superintendent was chosen without any community input. Milwaukee, now is the time to step up and stand on business. That is the only way we will start to see change in our city!
