MPD’s First-Quarter Review

MILWAUKEE, WI – On Tuesday, April 18, 2023, Chief Jeffrey Norman and Mayor Cavalier Johnson provided a first-quarter review of Part I Crime, Crash Data and Homicide Clearance Rates.

Overall, Part I crime has decreased 19% compared to 2022, including in most individual crime categories. Homicides have decreased 22% compared to the same period in 2022 and our homicide clearance rate is at 74%. MPD’s initiatives, partnerships and strategies related to those crimes can be found in our recently released 2023 Milwaukee Police Department’s Violent Crime Plan.

The Milwaukee Police is committed to working with our community and system partners to build sustainable neighborhoods free of crime that are built on positive relationships. We are better together!
