MPD Open Records Section Reopens to the Public
In March of 2020, the Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) Open Records Counter was closed to protect the health and safety of the public due to COVID-19. Since then, MPD Open Records Section has received approximately 450 requests each week and is currently processing a backlog of requests. With social distancing limitations in place, the Open Records Counter is now reopening to the public under new hours on Tuesday, May 4, 2021. The MPD Open Records Counter will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and is located on the second floor of Milwaukee Police Department District Three (2333 N 49th St.).
The MPD Open Records Counter’s purpose is to fulfill simple and specific public records requests as quickly as possible.
Requests for accident reports, citations, computer aided dispatch logs, and non-violent incident reports can be fulfilled at the public counter.
If a request cannot be fulfilled at the counter, the requestor will be asked to fill out a request form and the request will be processed as soon as possible and without delay, in the order it was received by MPD Open Records Section.
If you have any questions regarding records requests, please contact MPD Open Records Section at (414) 935-7502.
