MPD Officers involved in shooting of homicide suspect
On Tuesday, May 5, 2020, at approximately 02:02 p.m., Milwaukee Police officers were dispatched to a shooting incident that occurred on the 2700 block of West North Avenue. The 911 caller stated a female was shot by a male.
Upon arrival, officers encountered a male, who was armed with a firearm and had just shot a female. This suspect then fired his firearm at officers at which time the officers feed shots at the suspect, subsequently striking the suspect. The suspect, a 51-year-old male, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. He is in stable condition and is expected to survive. The victim, a 48-year-old female sustained fatal injuries. The suspect’s firearm was recovered at the scene. No officers were injured during this incident.
The officers involved are a 38-year-old male with 9 years of service and a 35-year-old male with 15 years of service. Per Milwaukee Police Department Standard Operating Procedure, the officers involved will be placed on administrative duty.
